Crochet iPhone Pouch

This is a cute crochet pattern for an iPhone pouch with a neck strap. The pattern below makes an iPhone 4 sized pouch, but it can be easily modified to suit any sized mobile phone (cellphone).

Beaded Snood

When I was little, my Mum made me a couple of small hair nets (bun covers) which I loved and used to wear all the time.  She had woven some beads into them, and to me that made them special!  When I started crocheting snoods, I thought wouldn't it be fabulous to add some beads just like Mum used to!  So I set about working out how to do it :)

Here's a photo of my beaded snood - I don't have much hair to fill it out at the moment, but once my hair grows a bit longer, it will look a bit fuller :)

Below is the pattern as to how to make the snood.  For instructions for how to incorporate the beads, just scroll down a bit further :)

Rosella Jam

So for months now I have been dutifully collecting, washing, separating and freezing rosella flowers off my rosella plant, and finally yesterday I felt it was time to actually put them to use!

My rosella jam!

I have never made jam before, and never used a rosella... so this whole process was one giant learning curve for me!

How to fix a cracked wooden table

As the woman of the household, I find it mildly amusing (and slightly annoying) that I am the resident handyman of the house!  It's made even more amusing by the fact that last Christmas just before we moved up here, hubby got a tool box from his parents as a going away gift.... and guess who's the one that uses it?! :P  Mind you half the time I have to ring my Dad or do some extensive googling to work out what I'm doing, but the point is that I'm the one doing the fixing, not hubby.
The crack in our coffee table!  It went almost
two thirds of the length of the table.

Christmas Wreath from a Recycled Old Book

Previously the concept of cutting up a book would have had me crying blasphemy, but with the availability of digital media these days, an old book may not be worth all that much any more.  I had some old books that I was planning to clear out anyway, so I decided to turn one of them into a decoration for Christmas.  It cost me nothing at all (except my own time), because I used materials that I had lying around the house anyway.
