Cocoa Brownies

I made these brownies for hubby today, but unfortunately since I can't eat cocoa, I had to rely on him for a verdict.  He loved them so much that he ate four in one sitting!  The recipe makes 16, but there are now only 12 left thanks to someone being a greedy guts.  At least I know he approves :)

Crochet iPhone Pouch

This is a cute crochet pattern for an iPhone pouch with a neck strap. The pattern below makes an iPhone 4 sized pouch, but it can be easily modified to suit any sized mobile phone (cellphone).

Growing Stevia

About a year ago I bought a little stevia plant online, hoping to grow some natural sweetener to replace some of the sugar in my cooking.  I'm so excited because I've just dried and powdered my first harvest, and it's worked!!

Blueberry and Candied Orange Bread and Butter Pudding

This recipe came about as a way to use up various leftovers, and turned out to actually taste pretty amazing!

Making Yoghurt

I have been meaning to write down how I make yoghurt for ages, and now I've finally got around to it!  It's really quite easy, and saves us so much money!  Instead of paying $5 or $6 for a 1L tub of yoghurt, it now costs about $1.20 for the same amount because it's just the cost of the milk that goes into it :)

Upgrading my Cheesemaking Equipment!

I'm very excited at the moment, because I recently overhauled my cheesemaking equipment, and yesterday I made my first cheese with the new set!  It came out perfectly!  Scroll down for a photo of the size comparison between the new and old cheeses :)

In this post I'll tell you how I made my new equipment.

New equipment! PVC pipe, perspex and handkerchiefs.

Dyeing Hair with Henna

So I have now coloured my hair twice using henna instead of normal hair dye, and I am absolutely loving the results!!  I figured I would wait until after I had done it at least twice to post up my method, so I could learn from anything that went wrong the first time :)  Luckily for me not much went wrong, so here's the method I used!

Beaded Snood

When I was little, my Mum made me a couple of small hair nets (bun covers) which I loved and used to wear all the time.  She had woven some beads into them, and to me that made them special!  When I started crocheting snoods, I thought wouldn't it be fabulous to add some beads just like Mum used to!  So I set about working out how to do it :)

Here's a photo of my beaded snood - I don't have much hair to fill it out at the moment, but once my hair grows a bit longer, it will look a bit fuller :)

My beaded snood :)
Below is the pattern as to how to make the snood.  For instructions for how to incorporate the beads, just scroll down a bit further :)

Rosella Jam

So for months now I have been dutifully collecting, washing, separating and freezing rosella flowers off my rosella plant, and finally yesterday I felt it was time to actually put them to use!

My rosella jam!

I have never made jam before, and never used a rosella... so this whole process was one giant learning curve for me!
